ChartSmith troubleshooting
The status bar at the bottom of the plugin names every validation error before anything is drawn.
"Charts are built from vector layers, which FigJam does not support"
Open a Figma design file. ChartSmith creates rectangles, vectors and text, which FigJam boards cannot hold, so it is only listed for Figma design files.
"Need a header row and at least one data row"
The first row must name the columns and at least one row of data must follow. Copy the header along with the numbers from your spreadsheet.
The numbers are wrong or zero
Cells that are not plain numbers count as 0. Common causes: decimal commas (1,5), currency symbols and thousands separators inside the cells, or percent signs. Use a dot for decimals and keep the cells to digits; add $ or % with the number format instead.
Only the first series appears
Pie and donut charts use the first series by design. Choose a bar or line type to show every series.
"Select a ChartSmith chart on the canvas"
Load selected chart needs a chart frame that ChartSmith created with its data stored on it. Charts made before the editing feature existed, or frames you built by hand, carry no data. Recreate the chart once and it becomes editable from then on.
"Invalid color" or "Y max must be greater than Y min"
Hex colors need six digits, with or without the leading #. Axis limits must leave a positive range; clear both to return to automatic scaling.
Value labels overlap
Shorten the labels with the number format (fewer decimals, thousands separator), widen the chart, or turn value labels off for dense series. Stacked segments too small to hold a label do not get one.
The chart is slow to create
Every bar, point and label is a layer, so a chart with many series and categories creates hundreds of nodes. Reduce the data or split it into two charts.
The font looks different
Charts use Inter Regular, Figma's default font, so it is always available. Select the text layers and change the font like any other text.
The plugin says it cannot reach the license server
That only affects Pro activation; every free chart type keeps working. See Pro and licensing.
