TidyLint troubleshooting
The status bar at the bottom of the plugin reports every scan, fix and failure. Start there.
"Select one or more layers, or switch the scope to Current page"
The scope is Selection and nothing is selected. Select some layers, or choose Current page in the scope menu.
"Not fixed: No local style or variable within tolerance"
No local paint style or color variable is close enough to the layer's color. Raise the Color match tolerance (2 matches colors that look the same, 5 is a visible difference), or add a style or variable for that color. Library styles are not used for fixes; only local ones are.
"No color variable within tolerance for these paints"
The layer has several fills or strokes. A paint style would replace all of them, so TidyLint binds each paint to a variable instead, and none was close enough. Create color variables for these colors, or simplify the layer to one paint.
"No local text style with ..."
No local text style has the same family, size and weight as the layer. Italic must match italic. Create a text style for it, or change the layer to match an existing one.
"Mixed fonts, split the layer first"
The text layer mixes several fonts or sizes, so no single text style can describe it. Apply styles to its parts by hand, or split it into separate layers.
"Font ... is not available"
The text style uses a font that is not installed on this computer. Install the font, then fix again.
"No local effect style with identical effects"
Effect styles must match exactly: type, color, offset, radius, spread and blend mode. A shadow that differs by one pixel is not matched.
"No number variable equal to ..." or "Mixed corner radii"
The radius fix only binds a number variable with exactly the same value, scoped to corner radius. Layers with a different radius per corner have to be bound by hand.
The corner radius rule finds nothing
The rule only runs when the file has local number variables. Without them, every rounded layer would be flagged with nothing to bind.
A layer I expected is not flagged
Gradient and image fills are not checked. Layers inside instances are skipped, and so is everything inside a hidden layer. Layers already bound to a library style or variable count as bound.
"Select all" did not select every layer
Figma can only select layers on one page at a time. TidyLint selects the ones on the page of the first layer and the status bar says how many are on other pages.
"Those layers no longer exist. Run the lint again."
The layers were deleted or moved since the scan. Run the lint again for a fresh list.
The list stops at 20,000 issues
Very large files can produce more findings than the list holds. The status bar says when the list is capped. Fix some groups, turn off rules you do not need, and scan again.
A scan takes long
Whole-file scans and the cleanup report visit every layer on every page. TidyLint pauses every 300 layers so Figma stays responsive, and the status bar counts progress. Click Cancel to stop.
"A scan is already running"
Only one scan, merge or delete runs at a time. Wait for it to finish or click Cancel.
A style shows as unused but other files use it
The cleanup report only sees this file. A style published as a library can be unused here and still be used in other files. Do not delete it unless you mean to remove it from the library.
A merge or delete reports items that could not be changed
The item was already gone, sits inside an instance, or a text layer uses a font that is not installed. The status bar gives the counts. Install the missing font and run the cleanup scan again.
"... is a Pro feature"
Whole-file scans, Fix all, CSV export and the cleanup actions need Pro. See TidyLint Pro to activate a license.
License messages
"License key not found" means a typo in the key. "Device limit reached" means the key is active on 3 devices already; deactivate it on one first. "This license key belongs to a different product" means the key is for another plugin in the suite. More on the shared Pro and licensing page.
